From Marine to Energy Consultant: A Journey of Passion, Power, and Purpose

Alabama,USA

Challenges:

I began noticing a troubling pattern during my travels—no matter where I went, energy kept coming up. People were struggling with unreliable power, from families enduring rolling blackouts to tourists frustrated by dead phones.

It made me realize something I had always taken for granted growing up—reliable access to electricity—is a luxury in many parts of the world. That stuck with me.

After leaving the Marine Corps, I didn’t just want a job—I wanted to find purpose. But even as I stepped into the energy industry, I saw the same issues repeating: too much focus on expensive new tech, not enough emphasis on optimizing what people already had. I knew there had to be a better way.

Solution:

After the Marines and my degree in Operations Management, I joined an energy consultancy with a different approach: don’t push for fancy new tech—optimize what’s already there. We helped hospitals and commercial facilities reduce grid load, cut emissions, and extend equipment life by improving their existing systems.

That mindset—resourcefulness over replacement—is now how I view energy solutions. It’s not just about innovation. It’s about using what we have, better.

Result:

Today, I serve as VP of Operations and Strategy, but my work is still guided by the same mission: deliver impact with efficiency. And on a personal level, discovering BLUETTI brought that full circle.

My BLUETTI power station gives me clean, portable energy—no noise, no emissions, and no worry. Whether I’m camping, traveling, or facing an outage at home, I’ve got reliable power that aligns with my values.

“Using my BLUETTI power station has been life-changing.”

The BLUETTI Elite 200 V2 is my go-to. It’s portable, solar-compatible, and built for real-world use. I always say: With BLUETTI, energy is no longer a limitation—it’s freedom.

“Whether it was locals dealing with unreliable electricity, tourists complaining about dead cell phones, or entire communities experiencing rolling blackouts.”

In 2010, I began my collegiate journey at a small technical college in Southern Illinois, pursuing a degree in industrial maintenance. Fresh out of high school, I balanced working in manufacturing and production while attending college full time—setting the foundation for a future I couldn’t yet imagine.

A Journey of Service and Purpose

By 2012, life took a great turn. I made the bold decision to leave my home town and comfort behind and join the United States Marine Corps. For four transformative years, I served my country with pride, learning discipline, leadership, and a global perspective that would later fuel both my personal, academic, and professional goals.

Serving in the U.S. Marine Corps: The start of a lifelong commitment to leadership and service.

After completing my service, I returned to academia in 2016, this time as a non-traditional student at the University of Alabama. I was older, more focused, and determined to succeed. I pursued a bachelor’s degree in Operations Management while immersing myself in student leadership roles—serving as Director of Veteran Affairs for the Student Government Association, Vice President of Veterans in Business, President of the Student Veterans Association, and co-founding Operation Iron Ruck.

It was during this time that I also discovered a new passion: travel

Exploring the world—learning firsthand about cultural differences, energy access, and global sustainability.

A Global Realization: Energy Matters

From Australia to the Middle East, Europe to Africa, South Korea to Central America, and 49 U.S. states in between, I absorbed what I could about cultures, economies, and infrastructure. And in nearly every place I visited, one topic always came up: energy.

Whether it was locals dealing with unreliable electricity, tourists complaining about dead cell phones, or entire communities experiencing rolling blackouts, I realized that access to reliable power is a global concern. What I had always taken for granted growing up—energy & water—was a luxury in many parts of the world.

This realization sparked a passion.

As I neared graduation, I wasn’t interested in just landing a job—I wanted purpose. That led me to an energy consultancy company, a consultancy based in Birmingham, Alabama, focused on helping hospitals, commercial buildings, and large facilities optimize their energy usage.

Our philosophy? Efficiency doesn’t always mean new.

Instead of pushing clients to buy the latest tech, we focus on maximizing existing systems, reducing load on the grid, and cutting costs without creating additional waste.

At work, sustainability starts with resourcefulness—not just shiny new equipment.

By using what’s already in place and making it better, we reduce emissions, extend equipment lifespans, and lessen the demand for raw materials.

This approach aligns with my belief: real sustainability starts with smart use of resources—not just innovation, but optimization.

To sharpen my skills even further, I pursued my MBA in Project Management at Liberty University, which led to my current role as Vice President of Operations and Strategy at my company. But my passion didn’t stop there.

Through my travels, my studies, and my work, I kept coming back to one truth: energy freedom matters.
